With a population of around three million people, Panama is a relatively small country, with nearly one and a half million people living in the capital city. With an average age of nearly 25 years and an average life expectancy of about 75 years, the benefits of health care and education available are found in the culture of the Panamanians. In terms of ethnic composition, about 70% of the population is composed of a mixture of natives and Hispanics, called mestizos, followed by 10% Caucasian, 7% of natives and the rest of African descent or other descent.

 

In terms of religious majority, the vast majority of Panamanians are practicing Roman Catholics, followed by Protestants in a distant second place and a small segment of the population targeted to other faiths. With an illiteracy rate of around 7%, the majority of Panamanians are education. Spanish is the official language and the language most spoken, followed by the English as a second language.

Traditional music of Panama reflects African influences, Spanish and American Indians. There are three major popular music genres: cumbia, the tamborito and marjoram. The tamborito  is the national dance of Panama. The dialogue between the voices with the drum beat the record show Africans. The letters tend to be repetitive and, as in vocal music africanoccidental incorporate proverbs and political commentary.
