Driving Directions from David & Panama City to Playa La Barqueta

City of David to Las Olas Resort


NOTE:  Upon reaching the REY Shopping Center, entering David on the Pan American Highway, set your trip odometer to 0.0  All future km readings will be approximate.

 
 
  • From the Rey Shopping Center on the Pan American Highway, continue traveling west until your trip odometer reads approx. 3.1 km.,
  • Turn left onto Calle Miguel A. Brenes and continue on this road until odometer reads 4.6 km and turn right at HERTZ Car Rental store (Avenida 9 de Enero).
  • Continue on this road!  It will unfold as the main route and will become obvious.  Lots of traffic and confusion here, slow and easy please!
  • At an odometer reading of approx. 8.7 km, you will see a small grocery store and Delta gas station of the left,
  • At an odometer reading of approx. 9.9 km, you will cross a bridge and begin the journey through the farm country.
  • As you follow this road through the farms and fields, be cautious of livestock in the road, tractors, trucks and bicycles.  Take it slow and expect the unexpected.
  • At an odometer reading of approximately 17.4 km, you will be passing through the small village of Querevalos.
 
  • At an odometer reading of 18.8 km, you will arrive at a large intersection with a restaurant on the left.
 

 

  • Continue straight through this intersection and at and odometer reading of approx. 21.4 km, you will be in the center of the town of Guarumal.  There will be small police station, bar and a couple of grocery stores in the center of town.

 
  • Continue through Guarumal and at an odometer reading of approx. 23.1 km, you will pass over a small one-lane bridge.
  • Continue on to an odometer reading of approx. 26.4 km where you will cross another one lane bridge.
  • Continue on to an odometer reading of 28.1 km where a very sharp left turn is necessary.  There will be a farm equipment garage ahead of you before making the turn.  You will now pass through the village of Paja Blanco.
  • At an odometer reading of approx 30.6 km, you will arrive at the Las Olas Resort.  Take a left here and travel another .3 km to the driveway entrance to the Hotel.
Follow the driveway to the Hotel lobby.

NOTE:  Traveling East on the Pan American Highway and upon reaching the town of Concepcion, set your trip odometer to 0.0.

 

 

All future km readings will be approximate.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Continue traveling East from Concepcion on the Pan American Highway.

 

 

 

 

 

Upon reaching approx. 3.5 km you will be crossing a river bridge.

 

 

 

 

 

At approx. 7.0 km begin paying attention to making a right turn at the next crossroads. 

 

 

 

 

 

At approx. 8.0 km you will make a right turn on the road leading to Alanje.  At this intersection at the highway, you should see a large Las Olas sign stating. “Turn Now”.

 

 

 

 

 

At approx. 12.0 km, you will pass the entrance to Carte Viejo Rum distillery.

 

 

 

 

 

At approx. 16.3 km, you will enter the town limits of Alanje.  Continue to travel on this road and bear right as you enter the center of town.

 

 

 

 

 

At approx. 17.3 km, you will be in the center of town and driving to the right side of the town square.  Continue around the town square to the natural right turn at the end of the square.

 

 

 

 

 

At approx. 17.7 km you will cross over a creek bridge and exit the town of Alanje.

 

 

 

 

 

At approx. 17.9 km you will cross over a major river bridge spanning the Rio Chico.  Continue to the end of this road where it “Ts” at approx. 19.7 km.

 

 

 

 

 

Take a left and travel on this road until your trip odometer reads approx. 27.0 km.  Turn right at this intersection.

 

 

 

 

 

Continue straight and at and odometer reading of approx. 29.6 km, you will be in the center of the town of Guarumal.  There will be small police station, bar and a couple of grocery stores in the center of town.

 

 

 

 

 

Continue through Guarumal and at an odometer reading of approx. 31.3 km, you will pass over a small one-lane bridge.

 

 

 

 

 

Continue on to an odometer reading of approx. 34.6 km where you will cross another one lane bridge.

 

 

 

 

 

Continue on to an odometer reading of 36.3 km where a very sharp left turn is necessary.  There will be a farm equipment garage ahead of you before making the turn.  You will now pass through the village of Paja Blanco.

 

 

 

 

 

At an odometer reading of approx 38.7 km, you will arrive at the Las Olas Resort.  Take a left here and travel another .3 km to the driveway entrance to the Hotel.

 

 

 

 

 

Follow the driveway to the Hotel lobby.
